At the Labour party conference, the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE), the Centre for Cities, the Core Cities Group and The Work Foundation are coming together to present a Urban Hub - a coordinated programme of city themed events.  We'll be debating - should Liverpool pack up and move south? Will we see congestion charging outside the capital and should all cities elect their own mayor?   For more information, please click here.

2008 is the first year that party conferences will move away from the seaside and into two of the UK major cities - Manchester (Labour) and Birmingham (Conservative).  At all three conferences, Urban Hub will provide an energetic forum to debate topics from housing and neighbourhoods to transport, devolution and worklessness with a great line-up of speakers from Westminster, local leadership and expert commentators, including:

Rt Hon Ruth Kelly MP, Secretary of State for Transport
Rt Hon John Denham MP, Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills
Rt Hon Hazel Blears MP, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government
Helen Holland, Leader, Bristol City Council

Urban Hub at Labour party conference will be launched by Culture, Media and Sport minister, Rt Hon Andy Burnham MP, and Manchester City Council Leader, Sir Richard Leese at 7.30, Sunday 21st September, at the Manchester Art Gallery, on Mosley Street, close by to the secure zone.  To join us for drinks and canapés, please email rsvp@urban-hub.org or call 020 7803 4316.
