Event Themes

There are six key themes to Urban Hub’s 2008 party conference programme. The Hub will look into the economic, social and cultural opportunities and threats our towns and cities face - with economic waters choppy and local and mayoral elections shifting the political landscape.

Our events will explore what the economic downturn could mean for UK cities, how we can plan better cities and whether modern urban living is all it’s cracked up to be. We will debate where next for urban transport, how cities can make the most of the new financial powers on offer and what role businesses can play in local decision making. UK cities are changing now. What might they look like in the future, what will this mean for the people who live in them and for public policy?
